The Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Initiative
In 1974, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, launched a heartfelt campaign. He encouraged every Jewish woman, no matter where they came from or what they believed, to light Shabbat candles.
With deep passion, he shared the profound blessings held within this simple yet meaningful act. The Rebbe explained that in a world often clouded by confusion and uncertainty, Shabbat candles add light. They hold an incredible power to bring peace and blessings into every Jewish woman's personal life, her home, and the world at large.
